Town of Garner Update on COVID-19

March 19, 2020

Town Hall and Other Town Buildings to Close to the Public Starting March 20

Post Date: 03/19/2020 4:50 PM

In an effort to combat the spread of COVID-19, the Town of Garner has decided to close Town Hall and other Town buildings to the public effective 8 a.m. Friday, March 20, until further notice.

The Town takes this step out of an abundance of caution. As always, the Town’s top priority is to protect the safety and well-being of residents and staff. And although Town buildings are closed to the public, staff remain working to conduct the business of your local government and to provide essential services to the community.

Critical services provided directly by the Town or through its service partners will continue uninterrupted. These include police, fire-rescue and EMS service; curbside trash and recycling collections (including the special spring clean-up collection set to begin next week); water and wastewater services; and development services work including inspections. As always, if you have an emergency, please dial 911.

The Meals on Wheels grab-and-go service at the Garner Senior Center will operate on Friday, March 20. However, the Meals on Wheels program is evaluating future service. Please check the organization’s website for details and updates.

The Town closures do include the Lake Benson boathouse and White Deer Park Nature Center. For more information on Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, please call 919-773-4442.

As of now, Town Council meetings will continue as scheduled. The Town will provide updates as needed.
